Wi-Fi (WiFi)

A form of wireless communication that uses radio waves to transmit data as well as allows devices such as computers, tablets, and smartphones to connect to the Internet.

Wireless Sensor Networks - WSNs

Networks of spatially dispersed and dedicated sensors that monitor and record the physical conditions of the environment and forward the collected data to a central location.

Wireless Local Area Network - WLAN

A wireless distribution method for two or more devices. WLANs use high-frequency radio waves and often include an access point to the Internet.

Wireless Metropolitan Area Network - WMAN

A fixed wireless installation that interconnects buildings or locations.

Wireless Personal Area Network - WPAN

A group of devices connected without the use of wires or cables.

Wireless Wide Area Network - WWAN

A form of a wireless network that sends wireless signals beyond a single building or property.
