Vehicle-to-Everything – V2X

A wireless technology aimed at enabling data exchanges between a vehicle and its surroundings.

Vehicle-to-Infrastructure – V2I

A communication model that allows vehicles to share information with the components that support a country's highway system. Such components include overhead RFID readers and cameras, traffic lights, lane markers, streetlights, signage and parking meters.

Vertical Handover - VHO

A network node that automatically changes its connection type to access a supporting infrastructure.

Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser - VCSEL

A type of semiconductor laser diode with laser beam emission perpendicular from the top surface, contrary to conventional edge-emitting semiconductor lasers which emit from surfaces formed by cleaving the individual chip out of a wafer.

Visible light based Interoperability and Networking - VISLON

A proposed project aiming to train a new generation of early-stage researchers (ESRs) in the emerging area of VLC. Through research on co-supervised individual projects focusing on selected applications, VisIon will make significant contributions to the fundamental scientific understanding and technical know-how.

Visible Light - VL

The visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum or the range of wavelengths that trigger brightness and colour perception in humans.

Visible Light Communication - VLC

A version of data communication systems that leverages visible light for communication.

Visible Light Communications Consortium - VLCC

The Visible Light Communications Consortium develops standards for LED communication systems: high-speed and human-safe ubiquitous systems using LED in home/office lighting and appliances, traffic signals, electronic advertising boards, etc.

Virtual Reality - VR

A computer-generated environment with scenes and objects that appear to be real, making the user feel they are immersed in their surroundings.
