Terra Ferma and HomeGrid Forum

Terra Ferma, a leading Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) specializing in ruggedised Power over Ethernet (PoE) products for challenging environments, has recently joined the HomeGrid Forum. The company's expertise in building fast, secure wireless networks with industrial and military-grade LiFi solutions will be leveraged by the HomeGrid Forum to drive innovation, particularly in the LiFi Task Force and interoperability activities.

Terra Ferma's cybersecure LiFi solutions offer up to 1Gbps secure network access per Access Point, making them an ideal fit for the HomeGrid Forum's mission to promote LiFi as a key wireless communication alternative to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or 5G. The company's membership follows the recent appointment of Oledcomm CEO Benjamin Azoulay as the new Chair of the LiFi Task Force, further strengthening the organization's commitment to increasing awareness and adoption of G.hn technology and extending LiFi use cases to address military and government requirements.

HomeGrid Forum President Livia Rosu, who also leads the strategy alliances landscape at MaxLinear, expressed delight in welcoming Terra Ferma as their newest member. She highlighted the company's innovative LiFi products designed and manufactured in the USA for harsh environments and tactical operations, which have already established Terra Ferma as an industry leader in the industrial, military, and government sectors.

Dennis Roark, CEO of Terra Ferma, praised the HomeGrid Forum for its continuous inspiration in LiFi developments. He emphasised the company's eagerness to collaborate with Oledcomm and other like-minded experts and industry leaders who share a common goal of fostering interoperability and driving the evolution of LiFi technology.

As a member of the HomeGrid Forum and a contributor to the LiFi Task Force, Terra Ferma will actively participate in key industry discussions, collaborate on technical specifications, and develop best practices for the implementation of LiFi technology. This partnership is expected to bring added insight and innovation to the HomeGrid Forum, further solidifying LiFi's position as a secure and reliable wireless communication solution for various industries, including military and government sectors.

HomeGrid Forum (HGF) is a global industry alliance that unites the world's leading technology innovators, silicon vendors, system manufacturers, and service providers to advocate for G.hn, an internationally recognised networking technology. Based on ITU-T standards, G.hn delivers multi-gigabit access and in-building solutions for various applications, including enterprise, industrial, smart grid, and residential use cases.

As the most reliable and versatile network backhaul solution available today, G.hn supports a wide range of communication mediums, such as coax, copper pairs, powerline, and plastic optical fibre. Additionally, it encompasses LiFi communication systems that operate over visible light, ultraviolet, and infrared spectrums. HGF members work together to promote the worldwide adoption of G.hn as a single, unified, and multi-sourced networking technology.

To ensure the highest quality and compatibility of G.hn products, HomeGrid Forum offers silicon and system certification programs through rigorous compliance and interoperability testing. The organisation also collaborates with other standards bodies to conduct in-depth performance testing, further enhancing the reliability and performance of G.hn technology.
