Authentication Authorization Accounting Auditing

AAAA is a framework used to control and track access within a computer network.

Access Control List

A list of permissions that specifies which users or systems are granted or denied access to a particular object or system resource.

Advanced Encryption Standard

An algorithm that uses the same key to encrypt and decrypt protected data. Instead of a single round of encryption, data is put through several rounds of substitution, transposition, and mixing to make it harder to compromise.

Acceptance Model Technology

The willingness to adopt new technology and understand its benefits

Acceptable Usage Policy

A document showcasing the constraints and practices that a user must agree to for access to a corporate network, the internet or other resources.

ALARA - As Low As Reasonably Achievable

A radiation safety principle that was established to minimise radiation doses and the release of radioactive materials into the environment.

AP - Access Point

A device that creates a wireless local area network, or WLAN, usually in an office or large building.

AR - Augmented Reality

A technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user's view of the real world, thus providing a composite view.

Angled Physical Contact (APC)

A specific type of optical fibre connector interface that is commonly used in telecommunications and data networking applications.

Automatic Private IP Addressing (APIPA)

Automatic Private IP Addressing (APIPA) is a feature in certain operating systems, such as Windows, that allows devices to assign themselves an IP address automatically when a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server is not available..

Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)

The Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is a communication protocol used in IP-based networks. Its primary function is to resolve or map an IP address to a physical or MAC (Media Access Control) address on a local network. When a device wants to send data to another device on the same network, it needs to know the MAC address of the intended recipient. ARP enables this mapping by sending out a broadcast message to the network, asking for the MAC address associated with a specific IP address. The device that owns the IP address responds with its MAC address, allowing communication to occur at the data link layer of the network protocol stack.

Artificial Light

Any light source that is not naturally occurring. This includes things like flash/strobes, of course, but also any street lights, indoor lighting, or other man-made light sources.

Augmented Spectral Efficiency Discrete Multitone - ASE-DMT

A high spectral-and-energy efficient LiFi modulation technique.
